I always wondered how someone thought "bus" doors would be a good idea on a fire apparatus.......... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Yep, Miami Beach had 3 of them. Engine 1 is a 1989 Young Crusader II 1250-750 Pumper 89-N930

Mark Carr photo Coral Gables (3) and Palm Beach County, FL (14) also had Young Crusader II pumpers. They did not have the bus doors. The original plan that went along with the kickbacks was that the Palm Beach County pumpers would be retrofitted with closed in jump seats a few years after their purchase. Unfortunately, the company went belly up shortly after they got theirs. There was also another department somewhere in the Florida Keys that had one but I never saw it or photographed it. Mark

joe if youre watching did the squad from sta 49 move to 51 in clearwater??? [/quote] Yes Dan, Squad 49 is now Squad 51, same rig just renumbered, unknown reason behind the move though.
Mark, Madeira Beach in Pinellas County had a late '80s Young Crusader with the "bus" doors as well. I've got a photo of it some where, I'll try to find it.
Great shots, keep them coming!!! Here is a recent shot of a Miami Beach Crusader II.

Lake County, Florida has recently taken delivery of a 2011 International/Pierce Tanker assigned to Tanker 11. This rig will be replacing an 09' International/Pierce Tanker which was originally assigned to Tanker 10. The new assignment for the 09' Tanker is unknown.

Conch Key, Islamadora and Big Pine Key each had a Young 1250/1000 pumper, but they were not Crusader II's. They were built on Duplex D-500 Vanguard chassis in 1989, #89-N926, 89-N927, and 89-N928. |
