Thanks for the Lubbock E9 pix! Lubbock is my "adopted home town" (even though I was born & raised in MN & live here now).

Lubbock has had some neat rigs over the years. For a long, long time they were a Mack stronghold for pumpers, with L's, B's, CF's, and M's from the 50's through the 80's, with a couple of Ward LaFrance Ambassadors (as every TX city worth it's mettle had in the 60's & 70's). Aerials were predominantly Seagrave until they caught "Snorkel Fever" in the 70's with a Oshkosh/Pierce (many have probably seen the photo of the firehouse roof resting on this rig's boom after the big tornado destroyed downtown LBB) and a nice Mack CF/Pierce snorkel that was in service until at least 2001.

Sometime in the late 60's, Lubbock switched from red to white for apparatus color. This was the scheme in which their Kenworth/FMC & Spartan/Quality engines were delivered in the 80's, as well as the E\-One infection (sorry, my opinion) which began in the early 90's.

In the late 90's, starting with a pair of E\-One towers, LBB went to a white-over-red scheme, which surprised me a bit because if any city in TX should adopt black-over-red it would be Lubbock, as those are the colors of Texas Tech University which has made LBB the city it is today. As far as I know, all front line apparatus today is E\-One, with the exception of a massive & good looking Spartan/Rosenbauer heavy rescue.

I've got some Lubbock FD apparatus pix, but I will have to get permission to post them. Moderators & TX buffs: if I can post them, since they're old non-current rigs, shall I post them here or in a new thread?

Please post would love to see them. I saw the photo of the Snorkel with the roof resting on the boom. Did they ever fix it or was it totaled.

You're Welcome! I was in Lubbock for a week for a class and was lucky enough to catch her in the parking lot of a local BBQ joint.

I'd say just post them here. Keep all the Texas Rigs together.

Surprisingly, it only needed minor repairs & went on to serve for many years.
