On a couple of our trips into Washington State, we managed to stop off in Bellevue and shoot a few of their then in service apparatus. It has been a while since our last visit but the newest rig we shot on our last visit was this 2005 H&W International 4400 Air Truck.

At one time, Engine 5 in Bellevue was this 1985 E-1 Pemfab 1750 pumper with a 500 gallon water tank.

Bellevue, Washington had a bunch of these 1994 H&W Spartan Gladiator engines with 1750 pumps, 500 gallon water tanks and twin 25 gallon foam tanks. Engine 1 is one of these 1994 rigs.

The fire departments back home do not operate TDA's so it is always exciting to shoot photos of one. At one time Bellevue operated this 1993 Simon Duplex LTI tractor drawn aerial as ladder 7 when we shot it.

Engine 7 is stationed with Ladder 7, a 2000 ALF? Spartan Gladiator 100' LTI TDA.

Another difference I noted when visiting Washington State is the combined housing of EMS units in the fire stations, something that is very rare in B.C. due to the EMS service being a Provincial Service. M-1 is an example of the rigs Bellevue operated during one of our visits, and is a 2000 Wheeled Coach EMS unit built on a Ford F450 chassis.

H&W delivered this engine to Bellevue in 1998 and is another Spartan Gladiator with 1750/500/25/25 specs.

We photographed this 2002 Pierce built heavy rescue one visit, built on a Kenworth T300 chassis.

We found another TDA in Bellevue one sunny day, and when photographed was running as T-3. This truck was a 2002 American LaFrance 100' LTI tractor drawn aerial.

During one visit many years ago to Edmonds, Washington, I managed to shoot a couple of Crowns that were still on the roster. Engine 7A was this neat looking 1973 Crown with a 1500 gallon pump and 500 gallon water tank.

Edmonds also had this 1969 Crown 1500/0/65' Snorkel kicking around.

On a more recent visit I managed to shoot E 16, a 1998 Darley on a Spartan Gladiator chassis with 1500/500 specs.

The ladder in Edmonds was/is a beauty. L-20 ran with a 2000 Darley built truck using a Spartan Gladiator chassis,1500 gallon pump, 200 gallon water tank and this 100' Aerial Innovations ladder.

It's not. It's long gone -- they replaced it in 1999, if I remember correctly. Its replacement is also now out of service as well. Edmonds now contracts with Snohomish County Fire District 1.

Is it just me, or does that bucket look really small in terms on height?

Trav, The side and front rails on the bucket slide down into the bottom half of the bucket when stowed for travel. When lifted and set into position, the bucket is almost twice as tall than what it shows in the photo.
