I always wondered how someone thought "bus" doors would be a good idea on a fire apparatus.......... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Unsure' />

Does anyone know what the purpose was of the telephone booth/bus doors was? Or at least the thought behind them?

HAZ31MAT, I'm retired from Tampa, but have a few friends who work in St. Pete/Pinellas. SPFR is in the midst of some serious manpower issues at the moment. Most of the time their trucks are running with two. I've heard they regularly place an engine and truck OOS because of low staffing.

Sneak Peak at Hollywood Fire Rescues new Engine.

I got this shot from a guy at the shop, not in service yet and since I haven't been at work, I don't know all the specs.

This will be Engine 74 apparently.

Okay south Florida guys, any idea what this is that's coming to Broward County E-106? Awfully big cab, does this have a command post setup or is it an ambulance setup that they can transport with it? And it's black over red, when did that change occur?

Station 106 is the one at the highway rest stop way out in the Everglades, on I-75. While I thought there was a rescue out there, maybe the large crew cab is set up to hold patients until transport arrives.

Broward Sheriff decided to change their paint scheme after acquiring the Dania Beach apparatus, which was Black over red. Alex, can fill ya in more, but I believe only one rescue, and a battalion chief are painted in this scheme currently. The new Engine 106, is EMS transport capable. I can't see them removing the Rescue housed at Alligator Alley, but maybe this could be used as a second transport unit if multiple patients are involved.

Whoa that BSO engine is weird looking! Reminds me of old Kent, WA EMS transport Pierce Lance engine.

But...looking forward to seeing it in action sometime soon on my way to Fort Lauderdale!

Hey guys, here is the scoop on Broward County Sheriff E106!

Originally, the rumor had it that BSO wanted to order a Rescue-Pumper and/or "Rumper" to service the Town of Southwest Ranches. Well, she came a little bigger then what I envisioned, lol.

Currently, BSO Sta.36 and Southwest Ranches VFD Sta.82 are jointed. BSO Tanker & Rescue 36 respond primary to all Fire/EMS related events, while Southwest Ranches volunteers respond additional for manpower and lower priority calls, etc. Recently, the town voted to withdraw from BSO for Fire/EMS service. Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue is now in contract to provide services, effective September 1, 2011.

Due to these changes, BSO decided to re-assigned the new truck to Sta.106 on the Alley.
