Fire Unit 18 or 19

1992 GMC Top-Kick/E-One

1250/750

One of two. The paid men would store their turnout gear in the gear bags tied to the pump walkway. Liberal at one time not long ago ran two fire houses with two paid men each. These E\-One/ GMC Top-kick's were the front line engines. I believe the paid staffing is higher now. Rick

I'm not sure on the actual number of FF's on duty, If memory serves correctly there were about 6 of them present when I was taking those pictures... There is what looks like a new or close to new station in Liberal. I haven't had time to invesigate more, but it looks like the City of Liberal and the Seward County Fire Department are all housed in one building now. I could be wrong. Next time I'm up in Liberal i'll be sure to get some photo's and information.

Yep the new Fire House 1 was built a few years ago. Wallgreen's purchased the old Fire House 1 and for a few years the city ran out of the old KDOT building until the city could agree on a location and the new Fire House 1 was built. Fire House 2 was built in the late 1990's or early 2000's. Its been six or seven years since I ventured that far south west in Kansas. Rescue 1 and the Truck Company are real gems, nice rigs. Thanks for posting the pics. Rick

Last word I heard is that this truck is on its way back to KME for a large list of problems. It was technically never "received" by WFD.
