The Norton Ladder was sold to the Town of Rehobeth Ma (about 10 miles from Norton). It was their first ladder truck and was just re-placed by an 1985 Pemfab/E-One purchased in 2009.
BTW......what are you using to scan the slides? I have to get off my backside and start mine.

1980 Mack CF/American LaFrance/Hamerly 100’
Original build date on door plate October 1979. Build # AL-1-1089. Mack chassis id
# CF686FCA-1325. Originally ordered and painted white/lime yellow for Manchester City, NH. Mack sent the chassis to ALF who mounted the aerial device and outriggers properly and then sent the truck to Hamerly for the final body work. Jack Murphy from Mack Allentown was the main sales rep. The deal with Manchester fell thru when the truck was not accepted as it was found to be overweight on the front. In a last ditched effort to get the sale, Hamerly retrofitted the outriggers inappropriately and quickly repainted the truck red for Norton. Sale price $285,000. When Norton went to do the final inspection at Mack, the truck could not be found. After checking a few different locations, it was eventually found in a barn somewhere out in the country, probably one of Hamerly’s barns. The truck had to later be resprung to be legal. Mack lost so much money on the deal Mack wouldn’t even fill the fuel tanks for the trip home to Norton and bought the members a cheap lunch instead. Norton used the truck from 1980-2000 and then sold it for $5,000 to nearby Rehoboth, Mass where it was last in service as of 2011. It was rehabbed by Walker around 1993.

I had heard this was the fiasco caused by this rig was the reason Mack ended both the ALF and Hammerly as sub-contractors for aerial ladders , helped with Hammerly's decent into bankruptcy, and that Mack then went to LTI/CCP to develop the Bulldog I aerial (a somewhat lighter LTI design, still based on the best aerial ever built, the Grove!)
