We headed to Prattville to get the new Quest, but it has not yet been delivered. We did get a shot of this one.

We had not been to Selma in several years, so we went looking for any new rigs. We found a few.

Fantastic photos as always Dave. Any idea when Auburn switched from RED to the Auburn Tigers Colors?

Thank you! The first rigs delivered to Auburn in the current paint scheme were in 1996. For more photos of their apparatus, go here:

On Saturday, May 31, I began a six day photo shoot in North Carolina. I would spend most of the trip with fellow Firepics member Jon Umbdenstock, who provided lodging and most of the driving, along with all the planning of our targets. As usual, Jon did an excellent job! On the way up to Jon's house in Durham, I made a few stops in South Carolina to grab a few new deliveries, dealing with showers and overcast skies along the way.

I agree! They have a 2010 Impel PUC with the same scheme. They also have a few older ALF rigs with the same colors, but a more traditional gray/red scheme.

The guys at Cherokee Springs told me of a pair of new deliveries just up the road at Mayo. I also found this one that used to run from their Station 2, which is not staffed.

From there I headed towards Winston-Salem, NC to meet up with Firepics member Micah Bodford. Since I had about three hours to kill before I was scheduled to arrive at Jon's house, we decided to do some hunting. As you can see, the clouds were beginning to break up.
Micah had some info on the location of a relic that I was interested in finding. We followed his lead and were able to get photos. I'm sure all of you are familiar with Baker Engineering and their involvment with the Aerialscope, but years before that, they built a small number of apparatus in Charlotte, NC, including this one. It doesn't look like much now, which is a shame due to its rarity. It sits in a field at a trucking company near Advance, NC.
