I had the chance to tag along with Vancouver fire fighters Bob Dubbert and Shane MacKichan, both firepics members, on a recent trip "behind the fence" to the local Chevron Refinery, where we managed to photograph several of their apparatus. The first rig we shot was an ex Burnaby engine and is a 1980 Pierreville Scot with a 1050 gpm pump and a 250 gallon foam tank.

Chevron has this 1989 Pierce Arrow with a 1750 pump, 700 gallon foam tank and 50' telesqurt, ex Lawrenceville Fire Company in New Jersey.
The Haz Mat truck was built in house from a former 1986 Ford C8000 product delivery truck.
Chevron Burnaby also operates this 2006 Rosenbauer Central States Ford F450 with a 100 gallon premixed foam tank and 450# dry chem tank on a Fire Combat Twin Agent System propelled by a 300 cu. ft. Nitrogen cylinder
Chevron recently donated this 1975 Saskatoon Ford with 840 gpm pump and 500 gallon foam tank to Firefighters Without Borders Canada of which Bob is a director. Dispite the age of the truck, it was still in good condition, as it saw very little fire in it's long stay at Chevron.
At one time, Imperial Oil had an on site fire department at it's product terminal in Burnaby and operated several apparatus. One of their earlier rigs was this 1976 Foam Boss Ford C with an 840 gpm pump, 750 gallon foam tank and 54' Squrt.
The Imperial Oil Ioco Refinery in Burnaby also had this 1991 Chubb National Foam Spartan Gladiator engine with 1500 gpm pump, 1000 gallon foam tank and 54' Squrt on site for fire protection. When they converted the plant from refinery operations to just a products terminal, the apparatus was relocated. I believe the Spartan engine ended up in Ontario.
Petro-Canada had several fire vehicles within it's plant compound as well. They converted a former 1986 Ford fuel delivery truck into this 1200 gallon foam tanker.
This was not pretty, but it served it's purpose. The twin agent truck at Petro-Canada was this 1971 Dodge RIV with 450# PK dry chem and 50 gallons of premixed AFFF
The engine at Petro-Can was a 1976 Pierreville Imperial pumper with a 1250 pump and 1200 gallon foam tank. This truck was rebuilt a number of years ago by Anderson and repainted RED!

The City of North Vancouver is located across Burrard Inlet from Vancouver and operates out of one central fire station. Their first out engine, E-9 is a 2004 ALF Eagle with Hub bodywork and has a 1750 gpm pump, 500 gallon water tank and 40 gallon foam tank.
E-10 in the City is another ALF/Hub Eagle with similar 1750/500/40 specs.
The ladder in North Van. City is a 2002 E-1 Cyclone with a 1750 gpm pump,220 gallon water tank, 33 gallon foam tank and 95' ladder tower.
The City also runs a larger Tech Rescue truck when needed. This truck is a 1995 Anderson Engineering built truck on a Ford CF chassis.
The reserve engine is a 1989 Anderson built truck on a Pacific chassis. Engine 11 has a 1750 pump, 300 gallon water tank and 45 gallon foam tank.
I have also found negs of a few former N.V. City apparatus which are long gone. At one time the engine in N.V. City was this 1975 Pierreville Ford C with a 1050 pump and 250 booster tank.
The former ladder was also built by Pierreville in 1980, using a Scot chassis, adding a 1050 gpm pump 300 gallon tank and 100' LTI ladder.
