Hoopers Island VFD Engine 353 1982 GMC 7000/E-One 1000/750 Ex -United Communities VFD of Romancoke [/quote] That should be called Engine 51-? I would think it is Engine 51-2 with the FL called Engine 51-1.
Dorchester County always had a messed up numbering system, could never figure it out. I see they are getting the apparatus more in line with the station numbers now a lot of rigs still carry old numbers!!
Off the top I believe it was in 1998, Dorchester changed the numbering scheme first time essentially dropping the unit prefix numbers. Therefore E351 352, 353 became E51, 52 and 53; E306 & 307 became E6 & E7 Tower 401 became Tower 1 Rescue 403 (I think) as Rescue 1. Then in 2003, they changed again and the above became 51-1 & old 353 I have as 51-2 (352 the xOdenton '69 Seagrave was gone); the other pair as 6-1 & 6-2, Tower 1-1 Rescue 1-1. Some rigs are still lettered as per the original system that was weird enough the stations numbered 0-1, 0-6, 1-1, 1-6 etc. Would love to know how that was cooked up. I suspect it was when their central dispatch began back in March 1961.
I got out yesterday, probably for the last big trip until the Springtime. Got a couple of rigs out west.
First up is Frederick's new Seagrave from Independent Hose Company: Engine 12 2010 Seagrave TB 1500/750

From there finished up at Williamsport.
