The City of North Vancouver is surrounded on three sides by the District of North Vancouver, with Burrard Inlet on it's south border. The District runs out of five halls. The newest apparatus in the District is Q-2, a 2006 Smeal Spartan Gladiator with a 1500 gpm pump, 250 gallon water tank, 50 gallon foam tank and 55' aerial ladder.

The District is surrounded by heavy 2nd growth trees and mountains with lots of uninhabited and restricted forest lands that serve as the water shed for the region, and as such, runs this 2006 CAFS unit built by Rebco on a Ford F 550 4x4. It has a 300 gallon water tank and also tows a wildland equipment trailer carrying forestry hose, sprinklers and other interface equipment.

Perhaps the most interesting truck in these parts when in service was this 1986 Hub Mack R which sported a 1250 gallon per minute pump, no water, and a 103' Simon Snorkel aerial device.

In my travels with BIG DAVE last year, we managed to photograph a few trucks from the mid part of Vancouver Island. Campbell River is well known for it's sport fishing, with a healthy bunch of anglers arriving every year to try and bag a salmon. Engine 1 in Campbell River is a 2009 Crimson Spartan Gladiator with a 1750 gpm pump, 500 gallon water tank and twin 30 gallon foam tanks.
