I believe the USCG had a few of these that ended up moved around from one AirSta to another. Nice pix though.

Anybody have any ideas about this rig? Circa 1955 GMC/TASC. Reported to be from New Jersey. Donated to South Santee - Germantown FD (Now defunct and part of Awendaw Fire District) in SC after Hurricane Hugo devastated the area in 1989. Note the offset "low ceiling" type beacon bracket on the cab.

I remeber when I was a little kid helping my father load this truck and Stafford's old B-model Mack onto a Lowboy trailer, and shipping them to South Carolina. They use Stafford's old R-model Tractor to deliver the goods. The B-model was for sale on Ebay about a year or 2 ago. It was sent to McClellanville. It was is in a much rougher shape then we sent it there in.

The doors have Barnegat Fire Dept. on them, but the back of the truck has the name of a community beginning with a "T" with comma NJ at the end. Unable to make it out due to fade & rust. The TASC Reg. No. is 119.

Any idea what the community starting with the "T" is?

I'll have to do a little research on the B-Mack. The GMC/TASC originally served with the South Santee - Germantown FD. SSGFD & McClellanville FD are now part of Awendaw FD.

Here's a question. The last picture says it's 186 KB. Why does it show up so much smaller than everybody else's pics? I'm thinking that the camera setting is too big (The original was 231MB) Any Suggestions?

If you have a program that will allow to you resize by pixel count, you want your pictures to be around 800 x 600 or something close to that... they will show up just like everyone elses and look great.

Try the last one again.

Why was it shortened to 90', from 100'?

Just wondering. I got a theory in my head but want it confirmed.

If I remember correctly this is a sister truck too one that the Haverhill FD had. I think that the top of ladder on the Haverhill truck buckled killing a firefighter. So Peabody had the top 10 feet removed. If I remember correctly. I could have the towns wrong though.

it could be from Tuckerton NJ. I think they sent a truck that was a similar style to Barnegat's truck. Probably just interchanged parts between the two.
