This is the only shot I took of it yesterday. I didnt ask to have it pulled out because I thought I had it in white/red. It used to be white with a red stripe.

Well, I just found this pic of it while I was searching through my JeffCo pics. Not too good. I took this from the car and the FF were in the way. This was taken back in December.

Nope, that is 7414. Both units are identical and were painted white/red when they got a new chief. I personally like the all white with a red stripe better.

Today my brother, myself and some of his friends went to a town picnic in Luebbering, Missouri. The town is located about 50 miles SW of St. Louis. They are covered by the St. Clair Fire Protection district. The FD had two trucks , as well as St. Clair ambulance district. Here are the three units. I couldnt get any good shots with the compartments open and other people checking out the trucks.

All of the trucks are quints, including the larger ladders and can fulfill any role. The larger trucks, like the rescue squads do not typically roll on "stills" The still alarm assignment for a fire is 3 engines, the 75' quints, the first unit acts as an engine, the second as a ladder, and the third for water supply and manpower. When they bump it to a first alarm a truck company, bigger quint, and the rescue are dispatched. A larger ladder can fill in for an engine if necessary. I believe that all of the STL engines and trucks also carry a small set of extrication equipment. Each truck can do a lot.

Actually, we do send 4 companies on a Still now. The 4th company being a Hook & Ladder.



Everything else is on the money.

It's been a few years since I lived in the area and haven't been back to visit family in a bit, when did they start running the ladders on a still?

Over in my area, in the 4th district, the Hook & Ladder usually only makes it if its a worker. I always hear them get called off but i also caught a good worker earlier this year where H&L 4 acted as the first in engine. Here is a photo. Notice they are the truck parked just past the front door. This fire was a block from the Quarters of H&L 4/E-36.
