As far as I know, they were nothing special but they were ok.



As I just posted in the PBF thread, Truck 33 was relocated and renumbered 32 and have been in a new Seagrave for around 3 years now. Truck 8 got a new Pierce last year. Truck 30 is still in their rig. Truck 24 also got a new Pierce, but don't recall if it was last year or the year before.



As far as I know, the former Trucks 33/32, 8 & 24 are all now in the reserve pool.

This is still in service - but there has been alot of disscussion as of late if we should take it OOS. Very interesting history on it - see below.

1972 Jeep CJ-5, HP/60, 4X4 field piece. The chassis was purchased from Weaver Motors of Coatesville, PA for $2,500. A skid unit was purchased for $400 and mounted on it. It has a V-8, 304 CI gas motor, and a 3-speed manual transmission. A new pump was added in 3/86. A new Hannay reel was added in 9/81. A roll cage was added at a later date. They tried to sell it in 1990, no takers. It was totally refurbed starting in August of 1994 which included body work, repainted LYW, pump rebuilt, new emergency lighting, and a large brush guard in the front. It was placed back into service on 3/29/95. The leaf springs were replaced in 8/98 for $330 by Reading Leaf Springs due to old age. The muffler had to be replaced with a “Glass Pak” in 3/02 since the engine developed too much back pressure. It was taken out of service on 12/20/04 for a additional refurb: it was first sent to Gary’s Autobody in the Twp. for the frame to be welded and undercoating done, when it came back on 12/28, the engine was pulled for the seals to be replaced in house, and the equipment was stripped off of it so the bedliner could be installed by New Holland Bedliner. A new 2-stage 95psi Darley pump and 68 gallon metal tank were installed at this time. Also new wheels & rims and the emergency lighting were updated at this time. Work was completed (mostly in house) and placed back into service on 9/21/05.

Do you know the history of Truck 26? I may be wrong, but I do believe that this same truck was a Seagrave loaner/demo when it was new, and spent time in Leesburg Va serving the Leesburg VFC Stations 1/20. It was designated Truck 1 and ran first out for some time during a period when they were having issues with their E\-One rear mount and before their current Seagrave TDA went in service.

There were two identical units. Truck 15 and 21 were to receive the units in Baltimore. After Baltimore returned them, and ordered tillers, both the rearmounts were used as loaner trucks. The one at Leesburg could have been either unit. If Mike Sanders has the serial numbers, we could find out for sure.

Bridgeton's R&K is at the Seagrave factory to be sold. It is listed on numerous websites. Same issue as all the other R&K towers. Not sure what Bridgeton is getting though.
