By no means did we shoot every rig in The Keys but we did hit both airports.  First up is Marathon Airport.  "Shrek" as it is called, is a 1976 Oshkosh T6 with a 1950ish pump, 2500 gallon water tank and 50 gallon foam tank.  Yep, that's what they said.

The full pump controls on the side of this one are uncommon on a T-6.  I would estimate the capacities as 1250/1500/210F, which is pretty common on that model.

On Monday, the 16th, we weaseled our way onto Homestead Air Reserve Base and got to watch some live burns training for the Miami-Dade ARFF guys.  We were only able to photograph one of the air force rigs as it got dark before we could catch them.  Engine 12 is a 1995 KME 1250/600 engine that once served at Grissom ARB.

I'm not going to post all of the Miami-Dade ARFF rigs we saw since I've posted them from a recent trip.  But, I was finally able to photograph QRV-59.  Last few times I was there, it was out of service after trying to raise the ceiling on a parking garage.  It didn't work out too well.  Anyway, it is a 1001 Ford F550/E-One 400/300/40F/450PK unit.  It still doesn't look quite right.

We were lucky enough to catch this recently delivered replacement for the current QRV.  It isn't in service yet.  It's a 2013 Ford F550/Rosenbauer AirWolf 320/300/40F/500PK unit.

I don't recall seeing this unit on previous visits.  It's the MCI unit and is a 2003 Ford F550/Aluminum Trailer Group unit.

Rescue 30 is a 2010 Spartan Furion/Braun.

Engine 30 is the first rig in Miami-Dade's new colors that I've seen, one of two they have now, Engine 30 and Engine 40.  They are 2014 refurbs of 2003 Quantums.  They removed the foam pumps and tanks leaving them as 1500/750 pumpers.  The original job number was #13820-14, the refurb job # is F6638

Dodging rain, we managed to photograph one Hialeah station.  Engine 1 is a 2012 E\-One Typhoon 1500/750/30F pumper, job #137135.

Ladder 1 in Hialeah is a 2003 E\-One Cyclone II/Saulsbury/Bronto Skylift 2000/200/105' platform, job #125779.

The next day, we got rained out and forced ourselves to spent money we didn't have at Awesome Diecast in Boca Raton.  We all bought waaay too much but had a great time.

 

Wednesday we started at Palm Beach Int'l Airport.  I've shot there a bunch so I'll only post this one unit.  We managed to get the stairs raised on it and got a group picture taken on it.

 

The truck, AirStair 81 is a 2008 Ford F550/Stinar.

At the Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue shop, I got to drive one of the newest pumpers just delivered.  This one has yet to be assigned but is a 2014 Sutphen 1500/750/30F pumper, job #HS5455.

This repurposed rig is the former Brush 25 and is now being used to haul whatever.  It's a 1991 International.

Next, we scooted back down to Broward County, dodged some more rain and photographed the Broward Sheriff Fire-Rescue department's rigs at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Int'l Airport.  First up is Rescue 10, a 201? International/Taylor-Made rig.

Obtained in the merger with Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue is this 1994 Freightliner FL70/AEV command unit.

This engine, a spare Engine 10, is a ragged out 1995 Pierce Saber 1500/750  pumper, job #9343.

#2 is a 2002 E\-One Titan HPR 2050/3000/450F/450PK.  Yes, I know the pictures are dark.  Darn Summer days in South Florida!
