No...it was S&S! Nice dig at the end there Jr...never gets old, does it!
I realized this morning that it was an S&S so thanks Andy. Dig????? Nah just the truth which hurts but bad habits are hard to break.
My humble opinion: the 1986 Hurricanes Fairfax County operated were well built, rode low to the ground and were almost indestructible. Bigger is not always better and I like the Arrow XTs where the wheelbase is kept to a minimum. A fully-staffed career fire department does not, repeat, does not need to carry every tool known to the fire service when they can be placed on also-responding ladders and rescues.
County Reserve Truck 519. From what I've heard it is generally a despised rig (from both career and volunteers)

Fairfax County Rescue 439
Those Praying Mantis mirrors may be functional, but oh so hideous looking.

Lol. Thank god for the 2 - department (reserve) straight stick. Wasn't that purchased from a NY state department?

Doubled the mileage since we got the old gal and what fun to drive if you know how to drive an old Hurricane. Its been out with a blown head gasket but will be hitting the streets again soon.

I remember looking her over when she first arrived at FS20 and being amazed at how well kept it was over the years. Looked almost brand new! |
