I was told by the current chief of the department that this tanker was coming back from a fire call when the brakes failed and this tanker crashed.

1981 Hahn 84/Snorkel, canopy cab, 1500/500, 55 ft rear-mount snorkel, model HCP-15S, delivered 4/22/81, Detroit diesel, automatic, 6KW Onan generator. Replaced in 2004 with the Mack CF/Baker scope. On 2/13/05 it was sold to the East Fallowfield Twp. FC (Crawford County). For sale by them on E-Bay in 02/07. Might have been sold to Unit #7 Fire District of Gillespie (Macoupin County, IL), cab was repainted black.
 

I will be darned, I just saw this update.. I immediately called out there and confirmed, our old snorkel is indeed running at the Unit 7 Fire Protection District in Gillespie, IL... what a great end to my night!!!
