the Worcester rescue in post 13 looks to my untrained eye to possibly be a Gertenslager (sp?). it reminds me quite a bit of Wethersfield Ct's old Mack rescue for thos of you that might be familiar.

Ooh, there's a rare sighting! Engine 2 doesn't come out to play very often. Engine 1 went mutual aid and to a lot of parades, but 2's never saw much daylight.



BTW, this is reportedly the last Compac built (per the Essex guys.) Engine 1, now retired, was the first.

Lokks like Century Series cab to me.

Rockport's '56 Ladder has been redone twice to the best of my knowledge. Once was the stick (help me out somebody if I'm wrong) and the cab was redone not all that long ago.



They keep this because it fits their needs quite nicely for not only their station, but their tight little seaside community.

I think the cab is a 1978. It does look like it has been updated a couple of times over the years.

I see what appears to be some radiant heat damage on the driver's side of this piece. Anyone have the story behind the story? One of the mill/factory fires up that way perhaps??

The lead photo shows this truck "taking the heat" at this blaze and the story states the hose supplying the ladder pipe burned away, and all the FFs with the truck received burns. That would account for the damage if the photo was taken after that date.

If I recall correctly the Prospect st. station pictured behind the truck was built in 1987, so the photo was surely taken after the Henry Leather co. fire of 1984. I have that issue of Firehouse as well as the newspapers from that massive fire, and suspected myself that's where the scorching occured.



I have also seen photos of the Mack CF/Aerialscope that replaced this truck with scorch marks as well. Peabody has had a lot of big, hot ones over the years with it's abundance of tanneries and other large industrial buidlings.
