Is Spartanburg still a Public Safety Department, with the police responding as firefighters, or is it now a fully staffed stand alone department? I see the signage says City of Spartanburg Fire Rescue. On a side note, if you are ever in Spartanburg, stop by The Beacon Diner and order a "Double Chili Cheese-A-Plenty". It's the biggest, sloppiest, best tasting chili cheese burger with enough fires and onion rings to feed an army!!

No, Spartanburg PSO split up several years ago. They are still under a Public Safety Department head, but are separate agencies.

Never heard of The Beacon Diner. Next time I have an army with me, I'll stop!

Ahh the Beacon, yummy!!! I was told by a SFD employee years ago Spartanburg was separate fire and police then the public safety was formed and like GA Dave said split apart again. Check out the Beacon it is famous.
