Around 6PM on Jan. 24, Portland Eng. 11 was dispatched to a house fire at 10808 Idleman Rd. in Clackamas county. I was at Sta. 7 so I hopped in with Batt. Chief 3. When we arrived there was a 5" line stretched out of sight up the hill so we had a long walk to the fire.
At the end of a steep, narrow, downhill driveway there was a large 1-story house well involved. Eng. 11's crew was in the rear hidden by heavy smoke.
I kept watch on this cellar window, anticipating a flashover and I was not disappointed.
I saw fire at the B/C corner that turned out to be the gas meter.
Portland BC3 found Eng. 11 and managed to get the line away from them.
Lt. Scroggins of Eng. 11 backed him up.
