I'm interested to see Buckhall's Arrow XT, seeing how their last deliveries (not the international chassis) were monsters (no disrespect). Any early pics of Dale City's new Engines in progress? Dr Feelgood, if I may ask, why the switch to KME? From what I have been told they are strong at working with departments with particular apparatus designs ideas in mind. Is the current KME Rescue doing as well as the previous E\-One (which both career and volunteer crews thought was superbly spec'd)?

FRA policy on pumpers prevents "monsters" because of max OAL, Height, and WB requirements.

KME was the lowest bidder which met the bid spec that was sent out and the department was comfortable with that because of the rescue project.



Well it depends on who you talk too, some would tell you the E\-One was better but they didn't really know the rig (Paint, electrical, generator, and other issues) but the KME overall is holding up very well and has had a few minor issues which all units tend to have but they have been quick to respond and address them. The front IFS has been an ongoing problem with getting the cramp angle correct but everything else has been simple and taken care of quickly when issues are reported.



I will say that the air ride rear and IFS front makes it the best riding unit I have ever been in or driven.



Many seem to forget how involved I was with the 99 E\-One (4 years of my life specing it) and it was a good rig that did a great job but it had plenty of “E\-One” issues to deal with. The real Rescue was the 87 E\-One even with all of the E\-One issues (Electrical, Paint, fit and finish)and “20 lbs. of stuff in a 5 lbs. bag” it was a work horse.

I was wondering if this was the unit from Arlington County that became Hollywood's first truck. I believe there was two of these.

Many thanks for the thorough response, DRFG. One of the things I liked most about the recently retired E\-One Rescue was how well the crew cab was set up, tool placement, etc. In the mid 90's (when I volunteered in the county prior to moving out of the state for 10 years) I got to work many incidents with the Hurricane Rescue. Got a stack of polaroids from I-95 wrecks over the years.



I look forward to watching the KME Engines as they come together.

Ex ACFD Ex Hollywood, Md. one ended up in Annapolis, Md. for a short time and I lost track of it from there the other is located here for some time and has been for some time now http://www.companytwofire.com/Public/Inv...spx?id=674

The last time I shot apparatus from Arlington, Virginia, they were about to go through a color change, from white over yellow to white with a yellow stripe.

Ex ACFd T79 went to Hollywood, then Annapolis, then Dover, DE and currently resides in Howard County MD.
