1989 MackMC/Pierce 1250/500 E-5052-01 MC688FC-1060 Eng-7 Ryan/Commish collection
Here is the same rig today after being re-assigned to Engine 4 and being refurbed in 2003 by EJ Murphy. Peabody is expecting a new engine soon, and I suspect that the apparatus shuffle that will result will see this re-assigned again as a spare. This photo was taken in early 2005. I'm not sure when the damage occured, but it since has been repaired.
Does anyone have info on Somervilles Spare Ladder the 1988 Pierce/1976 Maxim?
I wanted to know when was this pair 'married' and were they were from. Its been running as TL1 for a bout two weeks now. -MB

Kill 'em all, let Allah sort 'em out. NEVER forget 9/11/01 WTC, Pentagon, Pa. Avenge the acts with NO mercy.
Thanks to ALL the Brothers who were there 9/11/01 and afterwards. Words can never say what appreciation we have for you all.

It ran as Ladder 3 out of Highland ave until the current piece, the Pierce Rear Mount was purchased in 95 or 96. I remember when the rig was bought, and one of the firefighter's giving me the grand tour. They were so excited that the tillrt position was now enclosed! Ladder 3 originally ran out of teele square, but was reassigned to highland ave in the late 80's, and was there for about 10 yrs, but went back to teele sq in 98 when yhe Union Square station flooded, forcing them to reassign Tower One back to Station 4. Nice pic of E5 ET. Keep up the good work
Nice photo of engine 5. I've been trying to get a good one of it. The best one was the one I posted. I always see it driving around the city.
Beverly currently operates 3 engines, 1,3,5 and Car 2 (shift commander) as well as 1 ladder when manpower is available (a rare treat) they also have two unmanned spare engines, and a Ford F-Series brush truck that is cross staffed by Engine 5. Engine 5 also performs ladder comapny duties when Ladder is out of service due to staffing (Engine 5 is a quint with a 75 ft stick). They operate out of 3 stations, 1 engine and 1 spare engine at each of the two substations, and 1 engine 1 ladder and Car 2 at headquarters. There are curently 65 firefighters and officers as well as 5 fire alarm operators.
Beverly runs approximately 4500 calls each year (From their website). This is a far cry from 15 years ago when they ran 5 engines and 2 ladders from 5 stations. Engines 4 and 6 were cut in 1992 and the Centerville and Ryal Side stations were closed, at around the same time Ladder 2 was in and out of service due to staffing. In 1996 Engine 5 and Ladder 2 were condsolidated when they were both replaced with the current quint that would carry the designation Engine 5, Ladder 2's piece was sold to Hamilton. Then again in 2004 with cuts in state aid, overtime was cut causing Ladder 1 to be put out of service much of the time, it is staffed duruing major snow storms and whatnot, and sometimes for short periods over the winter.
It's a miracle that none of our brothers from Beverly have been killed. They have had some really good fires with 9 men working. They're city administration should be shot. They are gambling with their lives. That quint is no ladder. Quint:Quickly undermanned in no time!!! Stay safe and keep up the good work.

I love the Pierce. I wish our chief would look into replacing our refurbed Pierce/maxim with a new Pierce tractor drawn.

Would love to see more if the are out there. Lynn and Beverly had quite a few of them! Quote:A WWII buff too Brother? That plane was outdated before Pearl Harbor.
