Ah, the good old days at the MD state conventions at Ocean City when you had this kind of stuff going on and the parades lasted 5 hours! That's when they used to be fun. If you all haven't heard, "to reduce traffic congestion problems", the 2012 convention parade route has been shortened. It will still be on Baltimore Ave. but will only run from 16th St to 32nd St.

I remember one year in the early 1990's in an effort to "ease" traffic congestion during the parade, Ocean City used the section of Baltimore Ave that has two way traffic. The parade ran up the north bound lane while normal traffic ran down the south bound lane. What a disaster that was.

We got more than our money's worth out of these two Ford/E-One rigs. We had one of them rehabbed in 1995 by the USCG Yard in Baltimore with the addition of a rear cab enclosure. It proved to not be very practical, as it did not have proper ventilation in the crew compartment and was very hot in summer months and the doors were very narrow making exit from the cab with SCBA a tight fit. This rig was replaced in 1997 with a new E\-One pumper and was sent to another military base. The other 1984 Ford/E-One was rehabbed by the USCG Yard in Baltimore in 1996. Instead of a rear cab enclosure, a canvas "Bimini" top was installed over the jump seat area. On nicer days it could be folded down. It was at this time that the Army was making the move back to red apparatus, so this rig was repainted from slime lime to red. It was used first line until 1997 and then became a reserve rig until 2007 when Ft, Meade recieved a new Seagrave pumper and the 1997 E\-One became the reserve engine. The red Ford/E-One was sent to property disposal and I'm not sure of where it went from there.
