Does Richmond have some new apparatus on order? Some of these 1998 quints must be pretty worn by now.

Thanks in advance.

No New Apparatus that I know of. There might be a few New Pumpers for next year but nothing definite as of yet.

Yes they are doing away with the Quint Concept and as of Jan 1 2014 everything will be Engine and Truck. A lot of changes and reassignments coming.

Trey, I think it is 1-7-14 now.

firesafe91, you are correct. The apparatus in Richmond is falling apart. Firefighters just went public with the TV media over the poor condition of many of their rigs. It's really a shame. The plan was that all of the apparatus delivered in 1997/1998 would be replaced in 12 years. That did not happen! And, there is no quick fix on the horizon.

That is excellent news. Its hard to beat the time tested Truck and Engine concept. I always scratched my head when Richmond went to Quints. I understood the need for new apparatus but from first hand experience it is hard to make the Quint and Rescue Concept work and still maintain fire ground functions. I remember reading a letter explaining the benefit of the Quint concept in Richmond outlining the staffing adjustments and how beneficial it was. IMO the staffing numbers just did not add up when compared to what they were loosing at the time in terms of staffing, apparatus, and fire ground functions.

Do you by chance have a rear shot of this rig?

My immediate first thought on this rig was that it looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree of Fire Engines. Poor thing.
