I may have missed it earlier (please forgive me if I did)...but does anyone have compartment/hosebed pics of the new KME's?
EMS 1. Fire 1 & Fire 4. The department's newest Chopper Fire 2.

What are the U-shaped devices just below each amber light on the rear?
They appear to hold your attacklines away from the body so that they dont rub the paint or the corners?
Someone else answered this a while back.....from memory, they hold brush fire lines for quick deployment and pickup in large scale emergencies. They drape the hose across the back and move on to the next assignment. Someone had a pictiure on here with hose on it....looked messy but its meant to be quick. Hope that helps....

Alchoa coats the wheels with what they call dura brite. All you have to do is rinse with soap and water and they keep their luster. Our pumpers at work have this and it keeps the wheels looking good.
dura brite isnt standard, most of the Alcoas are just clear coated.
The hooks are for something called a "Bump & Run" operation, used for structural protection during wildland fires. Here is a training video that I found of the operation, though its not LAFD and uses straps, you should get the idea.

Makes sense about the quick deployment for small lines at brush fires. Thanks everybody for explaining!
Thanks for the hose bed pics, Monrovia!
