That is one of five 1962 Ward LaFrance Firebrand 750/200 pumpers delivered to DC. They were built as open-cab rigs and the roofs were added later on. I'm not quite sure on the International grille, but all five had it.

Aetna Body Works of Hagerstown. Stayed in county reserve into the late 1990's, a unique rig. Thanks Scott, I find myself getting nostalgic for the Montgomery County of the 1980's,LOL

One was assigned to 82 Engine during Dennis Smith's time there. Just conjecture, but if this were an IH chassis, I would think a big six like IH's 450 or 549FTV would be the powerplant. |
