Next stop is Solon, IA, my home town. Solon and surrounding areas are served by the Tri-Township Fire Department. This is Solon engine 131.
Solon 133. In the background is the Methodist Church, my home church. I remember if the fire whistle blew while the service was going on, several volunteers would jump up and leave and run across the parking lot to the fire station.
After participating in the annual homecoming parade, 131, 138 and 132 block off the east end of Main Street while the pep rally takes over the street.

Guess the casino business must be good for the Pala tribe if they are getting rid of the aerial after less than 10 years (I'm guessing they are replacing it, not downsizing). I remember seeing the truck when it was brand new. Nice photo!

There has to be a reason why... Most were 10-12 years old. |
