Stopped by Advance FD in Davie County this am, to pick up some of their BBQ during their semiannual BBq feed. Shot a few rigs where they sat.

First up is this 1977 International/Howe/Grumman 350 gpm/400 tank.

No serial #'s.

I believe this is Engine 1203, but not positive.

Thanks for the info. Was by their station two weeks ago but it wasn't in the building yet. I'm not really sure where it would go however because all of the bays in the new and old station are full.

I remember in the early 2000's a rig that looked very very similar to this one being at the Baltimore Firehouse Expo, the company displaying it was selling the idea of building a new body on a used chassis.  I vaguely remember the chassis being being a 1994 as well w/ 200 or 300K miles.

A few weeks ago I got a unique opportunity to shoot Forest Hill VFD in Winston-Salem. From 1953 until 2006, Forest Hill VFD operated as station 19. The station itself sits well inside the city limits and with less than a 5 square mile terriory due to annexations, the department merged with neighboring South Stokes VFD in 2006.

The station and apparatus is still owned by the Forest Hill Civic Club and the former Chief plans on eventually opening the station back up as a museum. Until then, the chief maintains all of the trucks and upkeep on the former station.

Inside is all kinds of jewels including old Firehouse & Fire Engineering magazines dating back to the 1950s-80s, very old IFSTA manuals on firefighting principles, air packs, helments, extinguishers, grenades, radios and any other thing imaginable relating to the fire service and the former Forest Hill VFD.

Now on to the apparatus at Forest Hill. Before closing down, the members tracked down one of their former rigs and purchased it back from Altapass VFD in Mitchell County,NC. They sent it to Anchor Richey for a complete refurb in 2005 and the truck looks just like it did from 1972.
