Broad Channel FD engine does not survive Sandy

[quote name='CNYFireTrucks' timestamp='1351813816' post='502098']

Broad Channel FD, one of the volunteer departments in NYC posted this shot on their Facebook page. Point Breeze FD also lost some of their equipment, but their two engines survived. I am assuming this was burnt in the massive fire that destroyed 110 homes in the Breezy Point region of NYC.

Also reported on Firehouse.com.

Very nice 1981 CF 1000/500 with 1997 NewLexington refurb and 4-doored.

Shoop's dad and I caught it back in 2010

Hey, I was there and photographed it too, I was gonna post it, but the computer had been running a fever over the weekend, so I haven't had a chance too.

Yes you were, Darin, but weren't you suffering some type of culture shock after we got out of Confluence and Addison? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Can anyone from this area confirm, is the department seeking help as far as equipment and turnout gear?? I was told by a coworker that they are in need of assistance via some facebook page, but I personally don't put alot of faith in facebook. Thanks in advance, Karl

Karl4700, yes this dept. is indeed in need of equipment & rigs...they lost both their frontline engines, 2 ambulances and their firehouse flooded with 5 feet of saltwater. They are in need of certain equipment (radios, saws, Scott SCBA, extrication tools, etc.) that I have posted on their profile page on my photo website (www.unyquefiretrucks.com). As they have limited power & cell service, I posted that interested parties could e-mail me for the asst. chief's contact info (don't want to post his cell# on the internet or he'll have everybody & their brother calling him). The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund (www.terryfund.org), an established post 9/11 charity here in NY that coordinates donations of apparatus & equipment to needy depts. is also handling donations for ravaged depts. in that area (Rockaway Peninsula region of NYC) & the south shore of Long Island.

If you go to my homepage, you will see links to the 4 NYC volly depts. that were affected (including Broad Channel) which includes their needs & contact information based on who is handling their equipment needs.

Hope this clarifies your concerns, any questions PM or e-mail me (firescueguy@me.com). Thanks for any help you can provide these brothers. Stay Safe, Tom <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Fireman' />

Chanhassen MN just donated their old engine to Board Channel. A friend of mine leaves with it tomorrow morning along with some gear from Mdwakanton fire, air packs from Carver Fire, and money for generators and fuel from the reservation.

The Berlin vol. fire department from Somerset county PA donated there 1984 American LaFrance pumper to the West Hamilton Beach vol fire dept. One of the unique thing about Berlin's pumper is that the pump panel is on the officers side. Warren do you have a photo of this you can post?

Saw it today parked in front of the Broad Channel volly house as I was driving up Cross Bay Blvd. Broad Channel looks like a completely different place than it was 2 weeks ago! Sanitation did a great job getting rid of all the debris that was piled up about 10 ft. high on Cross Bay Blvd.!

Also, the yellow 4 door Hahn with fire damage is now parked in a parking lot on Cross Bay Blvd. with a bunch of other vehicles that were flooded or totaled during the storm.
The only MARC in 46 ENGINE!
