Only difference to your list, rumor wise is I heard that 21 may get a wagon and not 42. Is the tower at 21 in that rough of shape that it needs replaced? Also, what's up with your tower chasselber? Saw it at ITE minus a bucket the other day.

Tim, you are correct I'm no longer at Riverdale but they are a great group of guys. I haven't heard who is getting which truck only station numbers. I knew it was an Oxon Hill station gettin a wagon just didnt remember which one. Tower 21 had a bunch of flaws from day one and like tower 7 was in the shop on and off for a good amount of time. Shoop, the tower had a major malfunction while getting some hydraulic work done at either a local shop or the county shop (each blames the other). The bucket was removed and placed in a truck and the tower was driven to ITE for repairs. It may be going back to Wisconsin for repairs and other "major" work. Oh yea it will always be "my" tower. That beast was my baby!! I loved wheelin that bad boy around!

There is nothing quite like wheeling an Aerialscope in my opinion. I've driven multiple aerials in my career thus far and by far the Scope is the best! Just wish ours was on a Seagrave chassis.

First off, NOT starting a war.

I drive a Sutphen 95', and the way it drive's is better than anything I've ever been behind the wheel of. I think the 34" center of gravity has a lot to do with it.

BUT, I've never driven a 'Scope...and wondering how they compare?

Thanks in advance!!

Almost 20 years ago ! the Riverdale VFD was going thru big changes in preparation to receiving the new tower; in this photo from early March,1993, the new addition was nearing completion. A Seagrave/Baker demo tower was on hand for training, and the new E72 (1992 Seagrave, at right) was in service. The tower would be delivered in time to go to Ocean City in June,1993.

Well, I have to be honest with you that I too have driven a 95' Sutphen TL and loved the way it drove. I just prefer a scope because that is where most of my experience comes from when it comes to aerial operations. I would put a Sutphen TL as a very close second. I honestly think that a mid-mount aerial overall is a much nicer driving/handling aerial. You just seem to be more in control of a mid-mount and the turning radius is much better.

Well it appears the two new Pierce ladders are going to 32 and 12. Updated photos on Atlantic's site today.

Thanks for the honest feedback!! I agree that a MM aerial handles SO much better!! I've driven plenty of rear mounts, and they just didn't handle nearly as confidently.

The chief is correct. Trucks to 32 and 12 and the wagon's are going to the PEC companies and 6.
