Ex-Guilford College VFD, NC (closed down in 2001 due to annexations by Greensboro)

Wow. They repainted the cab and boom and added aluminum wheels to the front axle.

 

Thanks for adding this. I love to see what became of the old Guilford College rigs. Anyone see the 1985 Dash Pumper and Tanker or the 1976 Pierce/Dodge brush truck? !972 Ford/Pierce telesqurt?

The Pierce rescue is now a reserve at Greensboro station 17 & the twin agent unit is serving at Greensboro station 18. Beyond that, I do not know where any of the other Guilford College trucks went.

I'm not sure Statesville knew what they were getting when they purchased it for their small municipal airport. I've heard nothing good from a maintenance standpoint with any dept that owned one.

I believe there were only five of these rigs built for the Air Force.  I photographed the one at Shaw AFB, SC a few years back.
