What's with the yellow stripe and the logo on the back cab door? That's new
Quote:What's with the yellow stripe and the logo on the back cab door? That's new From what I've seen in pix over the years, both E-2 and T-2 added this to their rigs.
I noticed most if not all the Truck Companies have a green warning light up front. Is there a reason/tradition for that there?

Engine and Truck 2 have had the gold stripe for a very long time. They are also the only 2 rigs to have the brass bells as well. Every tri-annual inspection, the Chiefs would say who had the best kept rigs and for the longest time, it was Sta. 2, so they were allowed to do that.
The green light was so that the trucks were easier to identify on a call. At one time, all the engines and trucks were Spartans, so if a truck was parked at the crest of a hill on a call, you'd see the green light and know it was a truck company. Between the hills and the fog, its still sometimes difficult to identify at a quick glance what is a truck and what is an engine. hope this helps.
wdho....Thanks for the information.
Do the newest truck companies have green today? I can't tell w/ the clear lenses.

Quote:Engine 35 respondingGreat shot! Quote:SFFD Station 1 Is this a new station? Wasn't their station in a row of buildings at one point? Does anyone have photos of the old Rescue 2, the Ford C/shop built utility bed? It's the truck that was seen on episodes of "The Bravest" and now serves Daly City as their Haz Mat. Thanks, Trav!

I've got some photos of the older equipment from 2006 at the SF Earthquake 1906-2006 centennial event.
