Here is another specialty piece that assists on incidents at the Colonial Tank Farm. It is a trailer mounted 6,000 GPM pump, powered by a Caterpillar Diesel engine.

A few years ago, Guilford County and the City of Greensboro went to a unified dispatch system where both County and City calls would be dispatched on the same channel. When this happened, several Greensboro stations had to change their numbers to prevent duplicate numbering. GFD Station 9 became Station 49 because Summerfield in Guilford County was Station 9 before the merger.

At one time, Greensboro ran a retrofitted Hahn pumper as a foam engine. Would anyone happen to have a shot of this truck?

Station 2 should be re-opened by the end of the month. New Station 19 however is behind schedule due to the contractor (low bidder isn't always better!) not paying the sub contractors then leaving town. From what I heard, there were 9 projects this contractor bailed on, including a new school in Greensboro. Station 19 was scheduled to be finished by October 31, now due to the setbacks it will be around April 2013. Station 19 will be located on Glenn Hi Road near Glenn High School and will eventually be a 2-piece station (engine and truck).
Thanks for the update and the info on 19s. Will roll by 2s after they open up and get better shots of their rigs. Winston Salem FD Engine 1 Clouds were playing with me while shooting this. Shot at the Dixie Classic Fair in early October. Also there was another Engine Company, but they were in a reserve. Also seen but not shot, due to being boxed in was Engine 4.
You didn't by chance shoot Greensboro station 17 did you?? Would love to see what they are running.

They currently run a 2010 Sutphen engine, as well as a Duplex/EEI reserve, Pierce Lance Reserve Rescue, and a trailer mounted foam tender/ with monitor.
Any idea where the 1985 Pierce foam tanker or the Ansul twin agent unit ended up? I thought these stayed at 17. I had heard they disposed of the 1985 Pierce pumper.
The Ansul is at sta 18

Concord recently opened Station 10 and right now they are in a single story pre-manufactured home with detached garage. A permanent station is planned for the future.

Fire Investigator City of Winston-Salem Fire Dept. Smith Grove VFD Davie Co. Brush 2409 1990 Ford F-350 250/200. Caught this on my way back from Mocksville this morning. Smith Grove Brush 2409 Davie Co. Business end of the rig. Advance VFD Ladder 12 1987 Spartan LTI 1500/300/85'. Former West Tuckerton FD in New Jersey. Was delivered a week before Superstorm Sandy hit the area it came from. Quote:I believe that was the West Tuckerton FD. I shot this back around '95.
Thanks for the correction, Dave. I was going off of memory from what I had read in the local paper just after it was delivered. The rig has been wrapped instead of repainted.
Thanks again, Quote:Thanks for the correction, Dave. I was going off of memory from what I had read in the local paper just after it was delivered.
