Brockton FAO received 2 calls from the PD reporting a house fire in the downtown area of the city. Car 56 ( Platoon Deputy) responding along with Squad A, Engine 4, Engine 5 and Ladder 1, with Engine 2 (RIT) and Ladder 2 on the working fire, had heavy smoke showing from a distance. Engine 4 arrived on scene and had heavy fire venting from the 2nd & 3rd floors in the rear of a 3 story woodframe occupied house. A 2nd Alarm was tramsmitted bringing Engine 7 to the scene. The fire spread into the cockloft and Chief Francis ordered a 3rd Alarm. Engine 3, Stoughton Engine 4 and Brockton Tower 1 responded. Crews worked form about 2 hours to bring the fire under control. Brockton had gone almost 4 years since it's last 3rd alarm, until last week when a vacant house was torched 2 blocks from this blaze.
