Credit should go to my reference sources, in this case, a gift of the LVRS' 50TH ANNIV. BOOK (2002) from John Floyd.

Originally replaced homemade body on a 54 Ford F, in 1961 a Chevy C-60 chassis was installed under the 57 body, which had a sliding canopy (similar to a Bruco) added.

"Early in 1968, SQ49 was rechassied and had extensive body repairs" (from book) sounds like they might have crashed it.

The replacement SQ49 was started in 1972, on a 1972 Chevy COE,but was not put in service until 6/1974. It is listed on roster as 72 Chevy/73 Born.

I think the 68 Chevy/Born gets confused with the 69 Chev C-30/Reading that was in service as Mini-SQ 49 at that time.

Dave, never saw that one except in a background photo in the Confluence history book. But, the back end is a Bruco "economy" model, and the Chevy is either a 1975 or 76, since that grille was used for just those 2 years. Note how similar, except for chassis , to the Ford/Bruco from Acosta/Sipesville, which is 250/250.

If you look at the doors on the body, they are beveled which was a signature for Grumman. 1992 is when KME acquired Grumman's apparatus line. Being there is no builder's plate on the body, I believe it to possibly be a KME utilizing a stock body that Grumman previously built.

KME delivered a bunch of these rigs to the Army in the 1980's, well before their connections to Grumman. I have a shot of another from Fort Benning.
