Pic # 4. These next few pics is when it starts to get ugly. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Pic # 8. I figure I'd post pics of the tags to help out our apparatus sleuth's. The cab serial # is 53277.
Although I'm not a big fan of Mack CFs, I hope this one isn't on its way to becoming a relic. The fire department that owns it had it completely rebuilt just to turn around and decide on purchasing a new truck to replace it. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I'm not sure where to find the numbers that everyone collects from these trucks, but I did my best. Here's what I found ... VIN: 1M2A15(?)6CXFM001122 Model: CF688FCS Full-sized Image View
This is actually somewhat of a happy find. Remember this old truck I posted back on the old boards? It used to be sitting on the side of the road, leading up to the local School Bus Garage just rusting away. It's now sitting back in front of the FD it last served with. The ALF logos and the siren are gone off it, so I hope this means they are about to restore it. (I hope this doesnt mean its about to become part of a big-rig extrication class!) This truck was once "2801" with Lake Logan FD of Haywood County, NC, and was originally from Weaverville FD of Buncombe County, NC.
It's an American LaFrance, not sure of the year model, with a 1000gpm pump, and just guessing 750 gallons of water. It's ALF Registered Number is 7.1.854. What can anyone interpret from the number?
This one hurts to post. I remember Dave posting a picture of it on the old boards when it was in service. If you read this Dave, please post it again. This is the former Engine 2 from Skyland FD of Buncombe County, NC. It's an unknown year Ford Super Duty/American LaFrance. It has a 1000gpm pump & 750 gallons of water. Its ALF Registered Number is 2.1.930. After life at Skyland, this truck was sent to Spring Creek FD of Madison County, NC where it served as Pumper 2. After its tour of duty at Spring Creek, it was driven to its current spot on Highway 209 and parked. It's sitting on the left side of the road between Spring Creek & Betsy's Gap on Highway 209. It's still in restoreable shape, somebody save her!!!!!!!!
This one kinda hurts to post too. This 1963 Ford 700/American LaFrance began life with the North Canton Fire Department of Haywood County, NC as "1301". It was purchased new by North Canton and cost them $13,000. After serving North Canton, it was sent to Spring Creek FD where it served as Pumper 2. It was replaced and bought by a Spring Creek member. It's now sitting on Meadow Fork Road in the Spring Creek community, surrounded by other old truck chassis' & construction equipment. It has a 750gpm pump and has 1000 gallons of water. Its ALF Registered Number is 2.1.9292.
This one hurts even more, because it has a perfectly good Q wasting away!!!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> This Ford C-850 last served Laurel FD of Madison County, NC as Engine 72. Apparently, it once served Parkwood FD of Durham County, NC, and was Asset # 00600 there. I've heard our good friend Jon Umbdenstock (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) once was a member there. Does anyone have pics of this unit when it was whole, and/or stats on it? This is how sitting in a field off Highway 218 in the Laurel Community of Madison County, NC, only miles from its last home with Laurel FD.
This one isn't totally out of service, I don't believe. This truck once served the Marshall FD of Madison County, NC as Engine 8. It's a GMC/American LaFrance. This truck is now parked inside the fences of the Madison County Water Treatment Plant, and I had to shoot the photo thru a hole in the fence. Does anyone have stats on this truck?
what a shame! that tiller looks like it just needed a little TLC, sad to see a rig in that shape.
old crash truck 1982 walter
That old Buffalo rig is a 1985 Pirsch 110' TDA. The BFD had two of them, #3369 and #3370. One went to L-2 and later to L-6. The other was delivered for L-13, but it didn't fit in their house, so they traded it for an older 100' Pirsch TDA from L-5. A third 110' Pirsch TDA was ordered by Buffalo, but Pirsch closed before it was built. When delivered, the rig assigned to L-13, and later L-5, had a large Pirsch nameplate in the center of the front bumper. Ladder 2's Pirsch didn't have one. Check and see if the one at RDM has one still or if there are signs (stains or shadows on the chrome, extra holes where it was bolted on, etc.) that it did at one time. The bumper on this one seems clean.
Quote:Hey, I remember that truck. Growing up I had a favorite truck in each city/town, and that was my favorite from Danvers during the 80's when it was running as Engine 3 out of the station by 128, it was still lime green and it had a single gumball-machine with a clear lens, and two small strobes on the roof. Regarding the Danvers "C" cab...the lime colored one was probably the first of two Ford "C" cabs we had. Both were before my time. The first one (the lime one) was a Ford/Continental I believe. I have a photo of it, but I am at work at the moment. I will get that posted when I can. The second was a Ford "C"/E-One. That was in reserve when I started. I will get photos and dates of each.
That definetly helps Dave, I figurd either you or Andy would have a better answer. Here's what threw me for a loop. This is whats in our lot. Being that one of these two is Ladder 6, and when I seen the same thing painted over on that 110ft. TDA also saying Ladder 6 I got confused. Even the cut up section's of that aerial did not have surface rust on it, which leads me to believe that it was cut up not too long ago.
