I was told by a Richland member that this rig was a demo that got lost in Texas. Nobody ever accually owned it. The first time it ever saw service was in Richland. So I was told.

This may sound like a dumb question but how can a million dollar piece of equipment get lost? Now I understand why American La France is failing.

#85-45.  This is a P-85, not a P-80, the style we usually encounter.  The P-85's motor was located between the driver and officer seats, with a crew bench under the canopy.  There is a full walkway between the cab and body.  On the much more common P-80, the motor is between the jumpseats and extends to the body.  There were over 1400 P-80's built, compared to less than 50 P-85's.
