I have finally resized some photos that were taken on our short road trip into Alberta with CdnFireTruckBuff, CDNARFF and Big Dave a few weeks ago. we started in the Calgary area and mostly headed north and east with CdnFireTruckBuff both driving and making many prior arrangements. One of our destinations took us to Vermillion, Alberta where the Lakeland College Emergency Training Centre is located. The college runs an assortment of training courses for a fire fighters, both career and volunteer. Because of it's proximity to the northern oil sands projects, it also has a large area dedicated to training oil field workers. Some of the apparatus they have include four of these 2008 Pierce Contender International 4400 pumpers with 1050 GPM pumps, 860 gallon water tanks and 25 G foam tanks.

seen more commonly in Western Canada, these spacious cabs with top-mounted enclosed pump panels are Pierce's answer to an identified need.  Okotoks, Alberta has this example.  2012 Pierce Impel  1500/670/20  Job Number #25603

this is a used chassis (2008) from a Midwest built tanker (#1974) that was hit from the rear while operating at a MVC on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Winnipeg.  The driver of the semi that hit the tanker was killed in the accident.  Fortunately, no fire fighters were seriously injured.  Fort Garry Fire Trucks built a new tanker body.  The 840 igpm pump was salvaged from the old tanker.  2013 Fort Garry/Int'l 7400 840/2500  s/n #M475
