Indian Harbor Beach Fl. House Fire 08/15/2013
#1
On my way to grab some sand for a patio project i noted the odor of smoke and saw IHBVFD Fire one screaming past me so I thought i'd turn around and see what was up. Im glad I did. Saw a header from the area of Banana River Drive and Wimico Dr. Noted a SFR with heavy smoke and fire thru the roof with 2 lines off of the first arriving engine. Full Still assignment was Engine 56/District 56 (Shift Commander)/Fire 1(Chief of Department)( From IHB-Engine 62/Truck 63/Rescue ??/District 60 from Brevard county and Engine 55 from Satellite beach. Stayed long enough to see the scene go defesive due to the work i had to do at home but caught a few pics.

First is a shot walking up

Great shots! Glad to some action from the Brevard County area. Does Melbourne go mutual aid to Indian Harbor Beach?

The City of Melbourne has annexed alot of land beachside but for now it is protected by an auto aid agreement with Brevard county. IHB recieves a majority of their mutual/auto aid from BCFR and Satellite Beach although there have been discusions about building a station beachside but thats been an ongoing discussion/issue with the city and the FD admin. with all the issues with the economy and the city crying poor I don't see it happening any time soon but stranger stuff has happened. The county as a whole is going thru changes in the mutual/auto aid plans. They county as a whole has adopted the Blue Card training system which I have my own personal issues with but it looks like we are becoming more structured countywide. SSDD with turf wars/my stick is bigger than your stick bull but hopefully we'll all get on the same page.
