So far so good. Weve had very little issues with them. No different from when we initially got the spartans.

Do you have any Idea what the wheel base is on those, my department like yours needs the shorter wheelbase we have small hilly streets also, just was curious we are getting ready to spec a new engine soon.

Hose tenders are at sta. 17, 22, 38, and 48. rescue 2 is a 2004. wheel base on new crimsons are 175000 [ thats what the blueprints say ].

We've had the good fortune of visiting San Francisco a few times and having outstanding help and cooperation from their members with getting pics of their apparatus including many of the special pieces. At one point we had many SFFD photos posted on this site, however during one of the reorganizations of the board the thread was lost. They have their own fire department foundry and ladder shop. They cast their own intake valves, appliances, hose tools, and bells. At one time although not the case on this engine, they also cast their own deck pipes. The bells have SFFD cast in raised letters on the top. It is an extremely traditional fire department. Everything from Leather Lids to uniform shirts with large silver buttons reflects a deep fire service tradition.

175 inches. Thats called the Navarro on the officers side. It's white buttons on the uniforms.  have pics of the ladder shop and some of the foundary stuff, I just suck at posting the pics online. sorry

I always love to see the SFFD stuff....it's all very simple, no-nonsense, and sharp....I'd be surprised if you'd ever find a speck of dirt on one of their pieces!  Lots of cool traditions, great firefighters, and an awesome City.  Thanks for posting!

Looks Like the newer Engines have roll up doors. Looks like they going away from tradition a little at a time.
