New Orleans Fire Department Apparatus Scrapyard
#1
Chris Mickal is a District Chief with the NOFD and is also an avid fire photographer.  Attached is a link to his website with several photos of "junked" fire apparatus post-Katrina.  It is a sad sight to see these grand old engines and trucks rotting away.

The Seagrave apparatus are of the early- to mid-80's vintage while the Pierce apparatus are from the late-90's/early 2000's.

I remember reading someplace all these units were under salt water for several days and weeks in some cases. They said they salvaged what they could off of them but the corrosion was too severe to salvage the whole units.

Does anyone know where NOFD stands now with apparatus orders? I know they have been reorganizing/disbanding companies.

From what I last heard bids are still out and Ferrara has picked up the maintenance on current fleet since most were ALF and they are now out of business
