Things like this are odd to me, and I know that some don't notice, and some couldn't care less. The rear wheels have simulators, the front is steel, but has a hub cap and lug covers, which means that they would have had to have been put on sometime after the simulator came off... why not just replace it with another one so that the whole truck matches?

The parts file for this rig indicates that it was delivered with chrome lug nut covers and hub covers. Baby moon - front, High hat - rear. The rear simulator would of been applied after delivery.....

This is a temporary situation, the wrong size simulators were delivered, to the dealer, for the front wheels and the correct ones have not yet arrived. This rig is not yet in service.
My last shot for that trip was a reshoot of a rig I photographed in 2005, but before it was lettered. This wasn't my first time back in the area, just the first time when it was daylight or not raining!
Today began with blue, sunny skies and cooler temperatures than we have been having, so I decided to get out and add to my collection. I was able to shoot two rigs before the thunderstorms rolled in and ended my plans. The first is one of two and they are not yet in service. Either they are not identical or they were not ordered together. Job Number 27480 will be assigned to Engine 2.
This one is one of three, with the others assigned to Engines 1 and 8. After this, the weather turned to crap. The other five rigs I had planned will have to wait for another day.
Last Thursday, I met up with Firepics member and longtime friend Jon Umbdenstock in Statesboro, GA for a day of apparatus hunting. Unfortunately, the weather was crap, but we pressed on.
