So I guess I'll ask,

 

What does the Rail Cart Carrier do and what all kind of equipment is carried on it? I've never heard of anything like it before.

<b>Nolan manual ATS-1 Rail Carts are used to transport equipment into and remove victims from rail tunnels and other locations served by standard gauge rail track...Two piece 98 pound folding carts have a 3000 pound capacity, a 49x50 flatbed and removable push/pull handles. Carts are stored at various companies and also at Special Operations Command.</b>

 

Essentially used to remove victims/transport equipment in to and out of subway tunnels and above grade rail incidents.

 

I believe prior to this unit the rail carts were transported in a box trailer towed by a Chevy 3500.

Brian Mott has photos of one of the Freightliner tankers, it appears that it's sitting in the Seagrave booth. What surprised me is, the FDNY logos weren't covered up like they were at FDIC.

One of the tankers was down in Wildwood, NJ at the Firemen's Convention this past weekend. I believe Seagrave also had a refurb'd scope in the booth also.

They sent all 6 of these,2 support units,Batt.,and comm van to Buffalo to stand by for the next 2-3 days to help out if flooding should happen. You know it's bad there when FDNY gets a phone call lol

These were actually taken upstate by the FDNY's IMT, which routinely responds to major emergencies throughout the state.

IMT?    I read a news report that theres alot more trucks there too, as well as 41 of the FDNY team.

IMT - Incident Management Team.  FDNY is the only federally recognized Type 1 IMT that's a structural department, all the rest are wildland fire response agencies.

The Type 3 IMT that I serve on has done quite a bit of training with FDNY team, they're an incredible group to work with.

 

That's also correct - 41 members of the FDNY SOC also responded.

Why take all 6? What if there is an incident back in NYC that they are needed for? So many other depts have put duece and a half and 5 ton rigs in service in NYS now after all the major floods that have taken place in the past several years

After yesterdays fire, I read where the FDNY had Thawing Units on scene. A search of this specific topic reveled nothing. I was curious if any firepics members have photos of these trucks and any info to go along with it. Thanks ahead of time.
