100 year old Grainy massive fire Grabill Indiana

At 19:13 Northeast Allen County Fire and Ems stations 170, 140, 240. Saint Joseph Twp. station 70 and Woodburn Fire department station 160 were dispatched to 13340 main street between 2nd and 3rd street for a building fire. Bringing 2 ladders 6 engines 3 heavy rescues, 4 tankers and 3 ambulances and 50 volunteers.  

 

At 19:15 Northeast Ladder 147 arrived on scene of a 100' x 100' 7 story old grainy converted into a saw mill on the 1st floor fully involved.

 

At 19:16 F.A.S.T. Fire Arson Specialized Team requested. Along with New Haven and Adams Twp. Full response which brought 2 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Heavy Rescue with 20 firefighters.  

 

At 19:23 Command requested Dekalb county send Spencerville and Concord fire full response to the scene. They arrived with 2 tankers and 2 engines. 

 

At 19:30 Command requested Norfolk and Southern stop all main line train traffic through Grabill.  

 

At 19:31 Command Requested Huntertown fire ans EMS which sent an engine. 

 

At 19:45 crews requested town increase pressure on hydrants.

 

Around 20:45 crews lost water pressure due to draining both water towers in town. A County wide tanker task force response was requested bringing some 20 3000 gallon takers to the scene for a water shuttle. Tankers would fill from the public boat ramp in Leo -Cedarville Indiana at the Saint Joseph river and truck it the 4 miles to the scene.

At 20:15 Command requested Jackson Twp. Dekalb county for full response bringing 1 Engine tanker and 1 tanker to the scene. 

 

At. 23:40 Command requested the remainder of the county Southwest Fire District, Aboite Twp. Fire, Poe Fire, Monroeville Fire, Hoagland Fire to the scene for relief crews.

 

Fire units are still on scene as of now. More photos to follow.

In front of Fire building the main old grain mill is on the left fully involved and mostly collapsed. a new addition completed in summer of 2014 is on the right which was filled floor to ceiling with stacks of OSB board.

Saint Joseph Twp. Quint 77 which is a new HME ladder truck and this is its first fire.

Last pic from now till i get home. At the height of the fire they had 3 ladder pipes flowing, 4 deck guns, and 10 hand lines flowing.
