Seagrave Closing Rumors
#1
There has been lots of talk about Seagrave closing today on Facebook. Is this just another rumor or is there really a problem. It would be a shame if true.

Just a rumor.  Manufacturers were trying to spread that around at the Harrisburg Expo as well.

In the Appleton, WI. area newspaper the other day, Seagrave had a large hiring add placed.

The Seagrave.com and fwdseagrave.com are vailid until 2017.  It looks like there is an error in their domain registry.  The registry was updated on Tuesday.  Anytime a domain registry is updated, it takes up to 48 hours to go live.  If this website snafu means they are out of business, American LaFrance is still alive and kicking.

It was hacked and they are trying to fix it. I understand from a bunch of different sources that things are booming in Clintonville with increased sales and factory staff

Seagrave employees were in fact sent home for a day, recently.  It was noted that a contingency of "strangers" or "suits" then came in and took notes, photos, inventory, ect.  It was reportedly to be what happens "when someone is being sold or about to be bought."  There was a subsequent rumor that Smeal was involved.  Who knows.  But, yes, there was in fact an unusual event.

I will say that I think Seagrave has settled into a low volume/high quality builder role.  Best I can figure, they built around 30 non-FDNY rigs last year and they're on that pace this year.  Orders seem to be picking up...albeit the usual areas - Louisville, NY, NJ, PA.  But, deliveries are now on time, quality is back to Seagrave standards, and customers are happy.

Is Seagrave taking orders currently? I also heard more receivership rumors, any truth?

There are currently 7 on order in Virginia, soon to be 8.  6 of those were ordered in the past 60 days.

Just up there in the last to weeks and they have quite a bit going on and no signs they are going out of business.

Yes, business is picking up at Seagrave.  Deliveries are on time.  Quality is great.  Getting back to focusing on the "little" customers (aka...anyone not named New York City)!

That's good to hear. Maybe the suits were from a marketing firm doing some sort effeciency study for recommendations.

Does anyone know how many rigs Seagrave ended delivering in 2014?

I believe that Seagrave built roughly 50 trucks in 2014.

We have a TDA on order.  Just working out the add ons.  We were there in March, a lot of scopes being built.
