4/20/15 3 Alarm Fire Government Camp, OR
#1
At approximately 3pm fire dispatch reported a fire at the Golden Poles Chalet at Government Camp this is approximately 40 miles from Gresham.

The original dispatch included Gresham units T71, and C7.

It was upgraded to second alarm right after the first engine arrived from Hoodland Fire and Gresham E71 was added.

I arrived about two and a half hours after the original dispatch and spent about 4 hours on scene shooting.

The fire was still going the next morning. They used all the water in the towns supply approximately 750,000 gallons  and reportedly used about 1.5 million gallons by the end hauling the rest in with water tenders.

Responding departments included Hoodland Fire, Sandy Fire, Clackamas Fire, Gladstone Fire, TVF&R, Estacada Fire and many others.

Love that shot of Gresham T71 with Mt. Hood in the background - and the next one in back without all the smoke is terrific.

I'll echo what Dick H. said about the FF on the tip of the Gresham ladder with Mt. Hood in the background. Wow. Do you mind if I use that as my screensaver?

Excellent shots! Very Impressive. Is this a normal response for them (40 miles)?

No, this is the only time I am aware of that they have responded this far for a fire.

The Hazmat Team on the other hand covers a fairly large area and responds outside Gresham on occasion.

Outstanding series of images.  What glass were you using?

I used a combination of a Canon 24-105 F/4L and a Canon 70-200 F/2.8L when there was daylight, after dark I switched out the 24-105 with a Canon 24-70 F/2.8L.

Impressive set of photos!

Just wondering if you might have the rundown of which dept/companies responded to this fire?

People complaining about spam in the spam mail box... Huh, what'll they think of next?

Since it was not possible to see the size of that complex in the photos, I'm adding a satellite view that clearly shows it

had 10 sections.
