If anyone makes it up to the two tunnels on I-77 in Bland County, the East River Tunnel now has a staffed engine.  I passed it twice this weekend, but couldn't stop for photos, and I'm not sure who to get ahold of to get permission.  It is kept in the center bay on the WV side.  Since they've had two major fires in the tunnel over the last year, I guess they finally figured they needed something.  It appeared to be a shorter wheelbase custom pump based on a new IHC chassis.  I couldn't tell who made it, but it does have a nice paint scheme, red with a white roof and green stripe.

Thanks for the heads-up on the I-77 engine.  I'll try to make arguments for this on my next trip through...

If you are able to make it up this way, drop me a message.  Although I don't have any direct contacts, I have figured out where a lot of departments are located and hope to get to taking pics soon.  The weather hasn't been too conducive lately, but hopefully by the end of June things will be better.  Before I forget, they also have a short wheelbase Mack/Weldbilt similar to the one on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge but painted in the traditional orange VDOT scheme.  Glenwood-Green Valley VFD, who also responds outside of Bland and both Bluefields, has some nice equipment.
