This Engine is now for sale. GBC fire has ordered a new E\-One with a larger pump and tank to help with their ISO rating. First In Firetrucks is selling the Engine.

Interesting! I've seen Quints turned into dry trucks, but never the other way around. Thanks for sharing.

I shot photos in McKinney back in 2010-11.

At that time, Station 1 was a two company house.

Since that time, there is no engine at Station 1, and they run a quint out of there.

This appears to be one reason for the conversion. I do not know of any others.

Thanks.  I kind of assumed something like that created the need, but since it's now labeled "5" I assume that it changed stations?

 

I was more curious as to the conversion of an 8 year old ladder (by the dates given) rather than purchasing a new quint and moving this unit to another station where a quint wasn't necessary, into reserve status or selling it to offset the cost of a new unit. 

 

I would imagine that the conversion wasn't exactly "cheap", but I guess they thought it was the more cost effective route.

I don't know about the cost, but there is a video on YouTube with the Assistant Chief explaining the referbish and the reason for moving the Truck to Station 5.
