So I've read...The CHP convinced LAFD for a time that amber was more effective, particularly on the freeways.

Thanks, I hadn't heard that. But they never used it themselves, so far as I know...


What's interesting is that at least a couple of Departments in California I know of still use amber on certain rigs, such as Orange County Fire (and maybe Riverside County) on their water tenders.

Pierce has been awarded a constrict to construct a new USAR rig which will replace USAR 88. Miller Industries will be building a new Heavy Rescue rig which will feature a 50 ton boom.

The LAFD has taken delivery of 5 OES Type 3s Engine's 8136-8140, No word on what stations they will be housed at.

Yes HME is the builder on the OES Type 3's, No word yet on the USAR and Heavy Rescue being as they just placed the order not to long ago it'll be sometime till they're in.

It's speculation that the truck is most likely at the dealer getting prepped before delivery.
