Quote:I'm sure it's been asked on here a million times before but what is the staffing of the apparatus for a Light Force.

Can be either 5 or 6 between the truck and the engine.

Let's see ... LAFD is on conventional 800 MHz.  LA County is on UHF and VHF (for tactical and fire ops).  A lot of the surrounding communities are on VHF or on a UHF trunked system.  The forest is on VHF.  Statewide fire ops (CALFIRE) are on VHF.  That makes for a lot of radios for interop purposes Smile

I saw a LAFD BC car at FDIC and there were at least eight radio heads in the console.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here with the chain saw running and say that the AO = aerial operator.

Apparatus Operator is the official city designation, which is a promotion from firefighter.

Is there a difference between engineer and apparatus operator?

Engineer operates and drives the Engine Co, While an A/O operates and drives the Ladder truck.

It's a bad picture, I think there is a system where you use one mic and select which radio head you are utilizing

You just have to talk really loudly.
