LACoFD will officially take over service of Hermosa Beach on 12/30/17. Hermosa Beach Station 1 will become LACoFD Station 100 with 1 Engine Co and 1 Paramedic Squad based there.
I believe it was taken out of service and was going to be sold off
Quote:What happened to old foam 127 the Mack MC / National foam? I saw a video on Youtube filmed this week showing this rig in service and actually staffed with 2 and running as an EST (Emergency Support Team...essentially a manpower rig) do to all of the fires down there. Apparently every piece of apparatus they could staff, has been and is in service. All second hand info from the youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-arj4Gs33aQ&t=0s
It will be placed out of service once the changes take place, Foam 5127 is currently 30 + years old, It was donated to the LACoFD from one of the refineries.
Foam 5127 is a 1984 Mack MC/National Foam rig. Ran as Engine 2 at the now closed Shell Oil Refinery (virtually right behind LACo. Station 10. Was donated to LACo., when the refinery closed. It was repainted to match the rest of the LACo. apparatus, from the previous white over dark red paint job.
Question - where was "old" station 104 located ?
Remember, it's their Emergency, not yours ! Arrive Alive !
Old 104s was located in the City of La Verne on Wheeler.
Quote:Old 104s was located in the City of La Verne on Wheeler. Did La Verne contract with the county at one point? A quick look at their website has no mention of it. Edit: Just found a new article from 1973. Station 104 was used to protect the foothills from wildland fire. There was a proposed referendum for fire protection with the county that apparently didn't go anywhere.
Ahh.......thanks for the info, in searching on Google Earth, found it on what is now Old Wheeler Rd just west of Overholzer Dr.

Another question - was a Quint ever placed in service at Station 51 at Universal Studios? I read in the forums in RadioReference.com that it was in the budget.
